I'm 31 years old.

where I'm from: I grew up in a small town in southern Lazio Coreno Ausonius, Ciociaria village (province of Frosinone), located in a charming hill a few kilometers from the sea and not far from the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park.

where I went: I started my studies in Architecture at the University of Rome La Sapienza . After four years I decided to apply for an Erasmus scholarship to Paris.
Where I was lucky enough to attend, during an academic year, courses at Ecole d'Architecture de la Villette . What I appreciated most about this experience were the lessons Urban planning and cultural environment that is breathed.
After this experience I had no desire to return to Italy or to Rome or to La Sapienza. So I decided to continue with the discovery of new cultures and new ways of thinking about and teaching architecture, and I went to Madrid - where I could count on some good friends already - and that is where I reside permanently for the past 6 years.
c h I do: I work in Urban Social Design, and I dedicate it to the design of spaces and dynamics that improve social relations in an urban setting. The professional activity is closely linked to the research developed at the 'Universidad Politécnica de Madrid , oriented to the study of new models of design and management of public space. S ono past few weeks from our first exchange of ideas during which I was able to gain some thoughts that brooded for some time. Today mi piace utilizzare una definizione differente, preferisco parlare di Urban Social Design .
Quando parlavo di cyber-architetto, mi riferivo alla possibilità di considerare l'architettura come una disciplina che vada oltre la composizione architettonica e la costruzione, qualcosa di molto più vicino alla gestione di processi; da lì la referenza al mondo cyber e all'urbanistica.
Urban Social Design mi sembra dare meglio l'idea di questo concetto: progettazione di spazi, situazioni o dinamiche, che hanno come obiettivo migliorare le relazioni sociali tra coloro che convivono un ambito urbano o più in generale un habitat costruito .

We are currently working on a web platform that allows citizens to express themselves about their neighborhood or city. In other words, it tries to create the fertile ground necessary to create new relationships and social activities, built directly from the bottom.
This type of dynamics is to be the basis on which to build innovative processes of design based on the presence of physical elements (platforms) and communication technologies (digital). The architectural profession in this way is not meant only as a designer of spaces, but as a consultant (manager) able to define the physical and social dynamics, needed to catalyze processes of self-organization.
In the ongoing work reflection and self-criticism that we pursue in the study we realized that it has reached a savoir faire that has to do with not only the architectural quality but also with the ability to catalyze and manage the different processes converging towards a single goal: we move into our intervention on several fronts: social, economic, architectural, technical and policy without ever forgetting the importance of communication.

What do you mean by communication?

Communication is an essential component of the design process. Accurately convey to employees, customers and users, the features and objectives of each step is a key to make a good project.
Today, however, communication means so much more.

Non lo considero un paradosso. Dovrebbe essere del tutto normale superare la nazionalità di chi propone un progetto per premiarne piuttosto le qualità.
Ad ogni modo è sicuramente una situazione che fa riflettere.

Through your study you run a blog . What is a blog for an architect?

To understand what good is a blog, perhaps it is useful to refer to the concept of commons in Italian could be translated roughly as result.
We are facing a new professional ecosystem that allows us to develop ideas and projects from operator to another person, other professionals or other companies.
The birth of this ecosystem is still in process, especially in Italy, for reasons cultural and structural. One of main problems is the dependence on the presence of intermediaries such as associations, organizations and magazines.

This communication is more effective and fast, it promotes a new model of work that we can define networking . The press, like all institutions of the sector, are used to being containers and promoters of professional debate, and struggle to accept being alone promoters since the container is the network in which we are all prosumers: producers and consumers, in this case, the debate.
The debate is constantly shifting towards those nodes that others know better than to promote the exchange of ideas and opinions true: the system that allows it to grow and innovate.
Having a blog means to cure and give life to this ecosystem.

Where are you going?

I wish I could answer simply: I'm in the right direction! But who can say?
Maybe I do not know where I go, but I know where I want to go.
We are experiencing a historic revolution, comparable to that of '68. Just like then you are creating a rift between the ruling class (old) and Culture emerging, the young. The reality we inherited is close and the new technologies allow us to fly high, dream of a better world, and we can simply because we are organized horizontally, creating independent networks.

In an attempt to retrace the history of the Web entries, I asked Gianluigi D'Angelo to tell his story in order to identify the subjects of the forthcoming dialogue.

Between 2002 and 2004 there was a moment of great ferment in the world of architecture anywhere. beta.net stands for Quarterly Bulletin Hermeneutic of Architecture. It was conceived as a digital publication on a quarterly basis monograph. the number zero, awarded to Romarchitettura, had as its theme the void. I had just returned from Portugal after an intense experience of a summer seminar whose theme was the urban voids. There was the wise and sympathetic eclectic Manuel Vicente, the mad Manuel Graça Dias , the diaphanous Carrillo Da Graça , the emerging blood Manuel Mateus and finally Gonçalo Byrne that happened to me as a tutor.

Needless to say, that experience was decisive for the choice of the theme of the number zero. Understand the concept of "Vazio" allows you to reverse the perspective. In fact, among the projects selected for its beta some were Portuguese. The interesting aspect of beta is the cultural cross-fertilization which addresses the issue. In addition to projects and reflections (where one of the first texts online Luigi Puglisi Prestinenza ) there are sections like " interference" with articles by artists, musicians, physicians and mathematicians, as the then unknown semi Piergiorgio Odifreddi : to receive its text, chasing away the mail between Europe and India. Channelbeta from the first moment a great success. We tried to make our content as accessible as possible and not just in English, as it was in beta, which was available in three languages. Then we were the only ones in Italy to do so, even if only on certain content. This led us to have a growing percentage of foreign players who came in a short time, to become our main audience. The network was much smaller, despite our numbers, compared to those who are now almost tenderness, we were on the world ranking to Alexa around 140,000 position. The editorial work was done by hand in HTML with Dreamweaver for the article layout, it took hours, grueling work that we undertook almost all the free time and more. In the past two years, our work was mainly to show that there are unknown architectures that have much to say and that before the architect, the architecture exists. I must say with some pride that, thanks to us for the first time Plasma Studio have been published in Italy, as well as Giancarlo Mazzanti i, Plan B, Piñol , Li Xiaodong, ECDM , Mass Studies , Ishigami etc etc ...

We continued to make our contribution on hot topics such as the housing plan, The New Town and in particular in the last period we have been dedicated to a fierce battle for the realization of ' Auditorium at Shigeru Ban L'Aquila . Inoltre è possibile segnalare il proprio blog o i blog preferiti che verranno vagliati ed inseriti nelle categorie. Unico requisito tecnico è che il sito web da inserire abbia tecnologia rss feed. Attualmente architecturefeed monitora circa 300 siti web che possono essere quindi consultati in maniera comoda. È inoltre possibile ricercare informazioni attraverso il motore di ricerca interno, applicando filtri come ad es. categoria, lingua ecc...
È uno strumento completamente gratuito, necessita solamente di una semplice e veloce registrazione. Abbiamo creato questo aggregatore inizialmente per una necessità interna, dato che la consultazione quotidiana di decine di siti web portava via molto tempo, successivamente, rendendoci conto della grande utilità, lo abbiamo sviluppato e reso fruibile da tutti. In meno di un anno architecturefeed conta già un archivio di circa 50'000 post ordinati e catalogati.

Indeed, writing the blog helps and offers extraordinary opportunities for experimentation with the style, tone, genre and the range of cultural references.



Bloggers today have unprecedented opportunities to change the way we speak of architecture - can involve more people and more areas for action.

As for me, yet I have not seen conclusive evidence that urban planners better understand the city's pest control specialists, the marathon or even poets.

So how come these three categories are not surveyed, interviewed and involved today when it comes to urban areas?

Similarly, because bloggers should assume that the professional group best qualified to speak about the built environment are the architects?

In many respects, it would be like asking the programmers of Microsoft Word have that review of contemporary literature. Therefore, we use blogs to expand the conversation.

Discutere – o scrivere un blog – di architettura deve quindi comprendere anche altri tipi di incontro meno ufficiali con gli spazi in cui ci muoviamo.
Se vogliamo rendere le conversazioni di architettura comuni come lo sono quelle sui film di successo – o addirittura comuni come le discussioni familiari sul cibo più buono, sulla musica o sui programmi televisivi migliori – allora è necessaria una radicale ridefinizione del linguaggio che usiamo per scrivere di architettura. Perciò iniziamo a scrivere di triangoli sentimentali, rapine a mano armata, furti nei sobborghi, film su case stregate, infestazioni urbane, bagni pubblici poor, archaeological sites, and why not, new museums. These are all ways to understand the city and architecture.

Write buildings as if they were works of art separated from their human context is an anachronism. After all, there are literally billions of people with their own individual experience of built space. The real challenge of bloggers is to find a way to include everyone in conversation.

In conclusion, blogs are a flexible and immediate way to change the subject and the issues addressed in the architecture on paper. If you do not like what you see discussed in Architect's Journal, The New York Times, Abitare, Icon,
Archinect
or, as may be found on BLDGBLOG, then you provide a simple and obvious: start writing a blog. Published a new post.
discuss the topics that you think deserve more attention. Do this with great energy and commitment. Listed books, buildings, cities, roads, parks, movies, ideas, architects, spaces, techniques, software, dreams, stories, maps, events, technology, other blogs.
Talk about everything you think everyone else should speak.
If we managed to cultivate an audience interested your vision of the built environment - if you can find others who share your interests, your disappointments and your
enthusiasm - then you will have successfully demonstrated not only the power of blogs, but also that you are not alone in your passions .
